Sarah Ramsey: Studio Manager

Hello! I’m Sarah, and I’m the Studio Manager at Color Works Tattoo. My job is to do everything but tattoo, so I do all of the scheduling, cleaning, stocking, etc. I’m by your side throughout the process and here to answer any and all questions to provide you with the best experience we can offer. 

I’ve been with Color Works since May 2023. My parents and I were at the Middle of the Map Tattoo Convention, my step mom pointed out a hiring sign. I’ve always been interested in working in a tattoo shop, so I put out feelers online to see what kind of reputation Color Works has. I was really impressed with the feedback I received. I decided to bring my resume, so I showed up to the most gorgeous tattoo shop I’ve ever been in, starting a few weeks later. Now I am the full-time studio manager, and will be pursuing permanent makeup in 2025 to add that to our services here at Color Works.

I’ve always loved tattoos and art as a whole. I went with my dad for most of his tattoo appointments growing up, and always knew I’d be heavily tattooed. I started getting tattooed as soon as it was legal in the State of Iowa, which is 18; as a reminder. Studio Manager Mode Activated, please cue the airhorns but hold the applause. 

Tattooing, for me, is an extension of who I am through self expression. I have silly tattoos, spooky tattoos, and some tattoos that are far too special to talk about in depth so I just say something like, “this is for my dad.” My favorite styles are traditional, neotraditional, black work, and portraits.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, music of almost all genres, spending time outside, and learning about anything, but especially animals. If I don’t learn or laugh, the day is wasted.
